diameter: 8 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 9oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)
finish: one coat of natural stain then 8 thin coats of dewaxed shellac
COMMENTS: ALL of the woods around the rim are chatoyant, the canary pieces are all beautiful and the purpleheart pieces are ... well ... PURPLE :-)
Unlike the normal type C1, the inner rim on this one is not concave but just straight up and down.
I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... the Senegal rosewood in the lower right has an almost unnoticeable stress separation that cannot be seen but which can be felt (although barely) along the lower curve.
LATER: I just noticed that you CAN see that stress separation if you catch the light right, particularly on the part next to the burr oak. It's so obvious in the right lighting that it looks as though there's a piece of dark veneer between the two even though the separation is quite small.
