BOX: the brown wedges at top and bottom are billy webb wood, the dark wood is all wenge, and the lines are all double layers of thick birch veneer.

flaws/issues: The mystery wood #145 in view 4 has a poor glue joint that shows up for about 1/2 inch on the left at the lower rim, both inside and outside the rim. I can only attribute this to carelessness on my part and it is definitely a flaw, although fairly minor. Also, the very center of the bowl is not quite properly turned and has an indentation that is noticible if you catch the light just right (but not otherwise) and you can feel the slight roughness if you run your finger over the center.

The chechem in view 2 has a small worm hole in the outer rim and the yellowheart in view 5 has some small chipout under the rim next to view 4. That piece of chechem, by the way, is highly chatoyant but the chatoyancy is severly muted by my use of satin-finish polyurethane instead of the high-gloss variety which brings out the chatoyancy so much better.

comments: The grain of the wenge in the BOX is excellent and the purpleheart in view 1 has an exceptionally rich color. Most of the woods in this one are really good.

There is an interesting contrast between the normal red padauk in view 4 and the pale stripy padauk in views 2 and 8.
