video for bowl N113

N113 --- $95.00

diameter: 8 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 4oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then 8 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

COMMENTS: The grain of the wenge in the middle is excellent. Most of the woods in this one are really good and as you can see in the video, many of them are nicely chatoyant.

There is an interesting contrast between the normal red padauk in the upper right inside and the pale stripy padauk in the lower left and lower right inside but the difference is muted by the fact that both have faded somewhat since the bowl was made.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... The mystery wood #145 on the right has a poor glue joint that shows up for about 1/2 inch on the left at the lower rim, both inside and outside the rim. I can only attribute this to carelessness on my part and it is definitely a flaw, although fairly minor. Also, the very center of the bowl is not quite properly turned and has an indentation that is noticeable if you catch the light just right (but not otherwise) and you can feel the roughness if you run your finger over the center.

The chechem in the lower left has a small worm hole in the outer rim (this is wood character, not a flaw) and the osage orange along the inner top has some small chip-out under the rim.
