view 1: tzalam, curly maple, BOX

view 2: redheart, purpleheart, padauk, BOX

view 4: redheart backed by zircote and both over olive over cabreuva both backed by Honduras rosewood, then sipo, canary, BOX

view 5: walnut, purpleheart, poplar, BOX

view 6: oxhorn, canary, BOX

view 8: redheart, thick birch veneer, padauk, then canary, padauk, BOX

BOX: top and bottom are redheart, left and right are curly maple outside of yellowheart. Middle is a jagged lamination, with pieces of, from left to right, bubinga, mahogany, yellowheart, machiche, aromatic red cedar, bocote, red maple

flaws/issues: the redheart at the top of the box has a wormhole that runs parallel to the surface and sits directly at the surface and runs about 1/2 inch. It is noticible to both sight and touch, but it is just one of those natural things that happen with wood. You can see it below as the light line running up from the bottom of the red wood to the right of the BOX in view 3c.

The birch plywood under the BOX was glued up over an area even wider than the BOX and then was not turned all the way off, so the bottom of the bowl does not show the exotics as fully as it otherwise would, as you can see in view 1d below.

comments: lots of very nice wood in this one, particularly the redheart in view 2 and the oxhorn in view 6.
