video for bowl B202

B202 --- $95.00

diameter: 6 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 1lb 14oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one application of natural stain then 3 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker) topped by 2 coats of clear flat enamel to take the shine off.

COMMENTS: The bocote/lamination at the bottom is a real standout and the high-ring-count fir inside the lower rim has a particularly attractive swirly grain due to some small branches entering the wood at that point (a couple of these show up as dark spots). The bocote pieces in this bowl have darkened quite a bit since the bowl was made, but that pretty much always happens with bocote. Check out the bowl blank pic below to see what they originally looked like.

The chechem in the lower left is highly chatoyant as is the yellowheart in at the top and several other woods as well, but most of it is severely muted by the flat finish.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ...
