BOX: the dark woods are all wenge, the purple wood is purpleheart, and the lines are all double thicknesses of thick birch veneer.

comments: This is one of my rare deliberatly symmetric bowls (it's mirrored on a line up through the middle). As you'll notice, although the occurance of the various woods is symmetrical, the thicknesses and centering were such that the final turning is not perfectly symmetrical --- in particular, there is an oval of MW145 showing through inside the rim in view 4 but not in view 6 and the walnut oval outside the rim in view 2 is larger than the corresponding one in view 8.

I think the combination of woods in this one is really terrific, particularly the padauk-veneer backed osage orange in view 1 with the MW145 on both side of it and the highly-grained panga panga directly behind it.

The grain of the wenge in the BOX is also particularly nice, and was specifically chosen for that reason. You can't really see it well in the normal pics so I did a color-NOT-correct closeup to show the grain (see below).

The shedua in views 2 and 8 is nicely chatoyant and the purpleheart in the BOX is lightly chatoyant
