video for bowl B187

B187 --- $75.00

diameter: 7"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 1lb 13oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one application of natural stain then 4 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

COMMENTS: Doing a fluted, undercut rim was a real challenge on such a small bowl as there was JUST enough leeway next to the lathe faceplate to get the gouge into the undercut area and it took a fair amount of extra time due to the tight space. I'm happy I did it, though, as I think the result justified the effort.

The fir in view 4 has some marvelous swirly grain lines due to some small branches coming into that section of the wood (they show up as dark areas). The canary at the bottom is not as colorful as it was when the bowl was made many years ago but it is still marvelously chatoyant and both pieces of chechem the lower right are lightly chatoyant.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... several of the woods have faded or darkened since the bowl was made many years ago. The good news is that means they are now stable and the bad news for me is that this reduces the visual impact of the bowl somewhat. Consequently I have reduced the price from $95 to $75 for the bowl exactly as you see it in these pics and the video
