finish: one coat of natural stain then 3 thin coats of dewaxed shellac then 6 coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)
COMMENTS: The glass lifts out and can be cleaned in the dishwasher but the bowl is NOT dishwasher safe --- clean it with a dry or slightly moist cloth. If you like the bowl better as just a bowl and not an ashtray, just toss the ashtray glass. I rarely make bowls of a single wood like this but I decided to try this "ash tray" style just to see how it turned out and although I really like it, I don't know that I'll do any more such.
