S9 --- $SOLD --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below

diameter: 9 1/2"
height: 1 3/4"

finish:

WOODS USED: This bowl is made from the most incredible piece of box elder that I have ever seen or heard of on top of a base of bloodwood that by itself would be quite nice but which is absolutly pedestrian in comparison to the box elder.

flaws/issues: The natural edge in view 5 is very deliberate. In fact, I cut the piece thinking there would be an even larger section of natural edge there but more of it got turned off than I had thought would be the case.

The wormholes are natual wood character and not at all a flaw (the red has to do with the worm holes --- note that there are no holes in the white areas).

comments: The high price on this bowl has nothing to do with my turning skill or the difficulty of turning the bowl (it was quite easy) but rather on the fact that this is the most amazing piece of box elder that you are ever likely to experience in your life. Certainly that's true for me and if you poke around my wood ID site, you'll see that I spend a LOT of time looking at wood, including box elder.
