N39 --- $SOLD --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below
diameter: 7 1/4"
height: 2 1/4"
finish: one application of natural stain then two coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)
WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]
base: red oak
view 1: niangon followed by a nice shiny yellowish wood that I can no longer identify, if I ever could.
view 3: padauk, walnut, box
view 4: osage orange, bocote, ash, box
view 5: padauk, ash
view 6: osage orange, bocote, ash, box
view 7: padauk, walnut, box
BOX: middle is narra over walnut, then the thin separation on both sides, then walnut over mahogany, then American red elm. Above the narra is an ash thin, then walnut, then padauk veneer, then walnut.
flaws/issues: the center portion of the box has thin separations on both sides, as you can see in view 1c below.
MAJOR FLAWS: the pieces of ash in both view 4 and view 5 have separations that have been filled with glue to stabilize the bowl. There is also a slight separation of the ash in view 6. This is a nifty little bowl, but because of the separations, I've priced it at next to nothing.
comments: The woods around the rim are excellent --- the niangon in view 1 has a particularly nice grain pattern that works very well with the curvature of the rim.
