N9 --- $140.00 --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below

diameter: 8 3/4"
height: 2 1/2"

finish: one application of natural stain then three coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]

base: mahogany topped by birch veneer

view 1: redwood, wenge, box

view 3: pine, bubinga, unknown, box

view 5: black limba, box

view 7: pine, bubinga, unknown, box

BOX from the bottom up: bubinga, cypress, padauk, bubinga, osage orange, wenge, osage orange (might be canary), purpleheart, quartersawn poplar with small, but nice, ray flakes, wenge

flaws/issues: the wenge at the left top of the box has a gum inclusion that, if you catch the ligth just right, looks exactly as though a small multi-legged insect had died on the surface.

comments: Excellent woods throughout this one with an especially nice chunk of redwood in view 1 and excellent contrasting woods in the BOX.

HMMMM ... I see that once again, I got carried away and made a totally symmetrical bowl (mirrored on a line up through the middle of the BOX). I normally do SOMETHING to break symmetry but didn't on this one.

view 1c as a bowl blank then as the finished bowl with polyurethane. You can see the gum inclusion in the wenge in the upper left middle of this pic as a slight blotch.
