video for bowl C268

C268 --- $110.00

diameter: 8 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 5oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then two coats of polyurethane (with UV blocker) then 6 thin coats of dewaxed shellac topped by 2 coats of clear flat enamel to take the shine off. Note that this enamel finish sometimes (including this bowl) has a weird effect on the pics without having a similar effect on the actual bowl. What happens is that the yellow woods become noticeably more yellow (again, in the pics, not on the bowl itself) and white woods take on a yellow tint. If I color-correct the white/yellow, then the reds and purples come out very wrong, so I leave the pics the way they are, but be aware that yellows in particular are slightly more yellow in the pics than in reality.

COMMENTS: The undercut rim was worth the extra effort and makes for a very pleasing curvature. The middle is a bit "busy", which some people will like and some will not. The staghorn sumac in the lower left of the rim turned out particularly nice. The zircote on the outside of the upper right is beautiful classic figure for that species (on this particular it looks like a range of mountains). The pieces of monterillo on the inside of the lower left and lower right show excellent figure.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ...
