COMMENTS: The mahogany crotch piece in the upper right of the rim is really nice and the redheart pieces along the top of the "box" are standouts. Simple straight-forward bowl shape on this one. The complex angles in the middle make this one of those bowls where I will occasionally see it and think "uh ... now how did I DO that?"
I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ...
The redheart in the inside upper right has a wormhole (this is character, not a flaw). There was a flaw in the yellowheart at the top right of the BOX that caused me to have to cut it down more than I had planned, so there is an imbalance at the top of the box where the peak of the joint of the two pieces of yellowheart should be in line with the center of the bowl but instead is off to the left a little. There is a VERY lightly raised edge around part of the bocote on the left of the outer rim. You can't see it but you can feel it.
