comments: I think the tiny oval of mahogany in view 2 would have been better off on the shop floor as a shaving, but I must not have thought so when it was on the lathe. Note how all three large pieces of mahogany are significantly different from each other. I don't generally keep track of mahogany subspecies, but I believe that the view 5 piece is African, the view 1 piece is Honduran, and I'm not sure about the view 3 piece; probably one of the many African species since it looks somewhat like sapele. The sycamore pieces in this bowl are very NON-flaky --- so much so that they almost don't look like sycamore, but I think they were a good choice for the contrasts in this bowl.
