video for bowl B275

B275 --- $85.00

diameter: 8"
height: 2 1/4"
shipping weight: 1lb 15oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then 5 thin coats of dewaxed shellac then 2 coats of semi-gloss polyurethane (with UV blocker) topped by 2 coats of clear flat enamel to take the shine off

COMMENTS: Some very nice ovals around the upper outside of the rim, particularly the one at the bottom with the black/white/red contrasting colors. The rim is a bit thicker than usual on this one. I don't remember having a particular reason for that so I must have just gotten lazy on the final turning. At any rate, it gives the bowl a nice heft that it would not otherwise have.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... The sycamore in in the upper right has a split, which it developed before I even turned the bowl. I felt that it was minor enough to go ahead with the bowl. The right-hand piece of Peruvian walnut in the lower part of the middle has a tiny stress separation. Normally these things are hard to see but can be felt if you run your finger over them but this one is just the opposite. You can see it, although it's not particularly obvious, but when you run your finger over it you hardly feel any change in the surface.
