diameter: 8 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
finish: one application of natural stain then 3 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)
WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]
base: Peruvian walnut
view 1: chechem, BOX
view 3: cocobolo, wawabima(?), zebrawood, BOX
view 4: padauk (striated), canary
view 5: cocobolo, mahogany, padauk, BOX
view 6: bocote
view 7: mahogany, ? (dark tan), BOX
BOX: bottom is cowtree, left side is bubinga, right side is cowtree. From the bottom: cocobolo, zircote, bubinga, bocote, chechem with something (?) to the right on a slant, then more cocobolo then sassafras next to the padauk of view 5.
flaws/issues: The chechem knothole has a slight indentation which I absolutely do not consider a flaw, but character, but I point it out in case you differ. The padauk in view 5 has a slight stress separation from the BOX as you can see in view 3c below --- it has widened just a hair since the pic was taken but I believe it is now stable and will not widen any further.
comments: excellent curves around the outside of the rim.
The chechem in view 1 is a marvelous piece, selected because of the knothole that gives it a lot of character and grain.
