S5 --- $125.00 --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below
diameter: 5 1/2"
height: 8"
finish: 10 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)
WOODS USED:
The top wood is shedua and below that is hard maple then ebony veneer then buginga. The vertical stem is yellowheart with a diamond insert of bloodwood and the base is walnut.
flaws/issues: the very bottom of the base has some chipout;
comments: As of this writing (early 2010) this is a total departure in style for me and is an attempt to branch out into some new bowl forms while still using the basic techniques of lamination.
I think I should have used a steeper angle on the top pairs, but I like the way it turned out anyway, and I particularly like the way the bloodwood diamond worked out.
