base: American black walnut

view 1: aromatic red cedar with a nifty knot, black ash, aromatic red cedar, BOX

view 2: redheart over zircote over aromatic red cedar, all backed by a soft maple thin, then dark cocobolo, maple veneer, red oak, BOX

view 3: redheart, beech veneer, sapodilla, spalted(?) black ash, makore, BOX

view 4: redheart over goncalo alves, soft maple thin, canary, padauk

view 5: sycamore, purpleheart, aromatic red cedar, BOX

view 6: soft maple, afrormosia

view 7: mahogany, slant of afrormosia/tulip poplar, mahogany, holly veneer, walnut, BOX

view 8: tulip poplar with light green color, white oak (with strong ray flakes), mahogany(?), osage orange, padauk, holly veneer, BOX

BOX: top and bottom are pine, middle is ash over zebrawood, left side is mahogany over walnut, right side is walnut over mahogany

flaws/issues: the soft maple in view 6 has a void on the bottom; it was a knot at the outside but as the knot turned off, it became a void. The knot I didn't mind at all but if I had known it turned into a void I wouldn't have used the piece. Still, it's really just wood character, although some will see it as a flaw.

There is a hairline separation at the inner edge of the sapodilla in view 3 that is so thin as to be almost imperceptable both visually and to touch.

comments: the off-center BOX on this one is OK, but doesn't work as well as I had hoped.

Some realy nice ovals on the outside rim of this one, as you can see in the pics below.
