view 8: walnut, two layers of maple veneer, paela, maple, BOX
BOX: from the bottom: padauk sided by redheart, canary sided by thick mahogany veneer sided by canary sided by yellowheart sided by cocobolo, padauk sided by canary
flaws/issues: the glue line right up the middle of the BOX is just slightly indented and noticible to the touch, and if you catch the light just right it's also noticible visually.
There is a stress separation on the outside of the osage orange in view 7 and running up along the inside of the adjacent piece of canary in view 6. You can feel it on both the top and bottom but it is not visually intrusive.
comments: the cocobolo in view 2 has a marvelous color change, separated by a thick bank of black. Lots of good wood in this one. Although this one is not particularly outstanding in any respect, it is a excellent sample of my work --- good wood, good curves, nice design. The stress separation is most unfortunate but really doesn't show up much at all and hardly detracts from the beauty of the bowl, but is the reason for the low price.
